September Self Care

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Summer with family and friends and managed some down time to nurture yourselves doing things outside of the normal routine.

Although, my Studio was open and I was teaching throughout last month- I was able to utilise the extra time to develop the Business and work on my own professional development, so August proved to be productive for Mypilatesflow!

The new Reformer arrived for the Studio- lots of re organisation of the space took place ready for Circuit Training classes and 121 sessions.

This additional piece of equipment enables the Tower to be up on a permanent basis, meaning clients can switch easily between the Reformer to Tower- increasing exercise sequences by double!

It will also be great for Exercise Referral clients who find Classic Mat floor work challenging- they will be able to lie on the Tower bed with ease! A win win all round - so I’m delighted with the new set up!

Summer Trios

Every August I offer Trio sessions in the Studio in place of my Public Classes. Over the month we used a variety of Pilates props and the work produced was brilliant by all classes- a real pleasure to work with clients that fully embraced every session! Thank you for such an enjoyable time- I was most impressed with the use of the portable Reformer bar- great stamina! Here are some of their thoughts:

“I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the summer classes this year, your energy and enthusiasm made the experience very enjoyable and the studio is gorgeous! I will be booking again”

'With only three of us in the studio Sam is able to really focus on getting the best out of you in every session. Having access to props like the magic ring, reformer and bar, Sam's studio classes have really helped me take Pilates to the next level.'

‘The trio Pilates classes this summer were fantastic, thoroughly enjoyed them - I left each session feeling relaxed and energised, thank you Sam!’

Class Update

A great start to the Autumn Term with fully booked Public Classes as well as Studio sessions- thank you as always!

Tweaks have been made to lesson content for Public group classes and I look forward to introducing additional exercise sequences to our standing section of the class- with a slant towards Pilates Barre. Our second section on the floor will as always be true to Classic Mat - just as Joseph Pilates prescribed.

Excited to see you all this week in class!

As you will know from the last Blog post- I will be offering another pre recorded video class for all Subscribers for 11th,12th and 13th November classes. If you do not wish to receive the link and would rather your Subscription go on pause at this time, then please let me know by 30th September- Many Thanks x

Christmas Social

The table at the Fish in Sutton Courtney has been booked for Friday 5th December - 7pm.

I have five places remaining for the New Forest Retreat in November- not too far to travel for the weekend- it really is the most beautiful setting, with the hotel literally on the door step of the forest. The weekend will include 3 Pilates workshops with lots of variety- utilising Pilates props that are not used in classes. You will work with: foam roller, mini ball, pilates portable reformer bar as well as Classic Mat Pilates sequences. Please drop me a line for further details or book directly below. Please ensure that you have booked your accommodation before securing a place. It is not necessary to stay at Rhinefield House- there are alternatives within the area if wanted. Excited for this weekend - lots of mindful moving, walking as well as great company and good food!

Self Care Challenge

Getting back into an exercise routine after a break of any kind whether it be due to a holiday or health issues can be challenging. Something that might be worth considering is choosing just 3 sequences to focus on each day for a week. Here are 3 to get you started that will engage the whole body ( they work the core, improve flexibility and will help to build strength) and are known to all my group classes:

1. Pelvic Curls: This exercise strengthens the core and improves spinal articulation. Lie on your back with knees bent, and gently lift your hips off the mat, one vertebra at a time, then lower back down. Keep your arms by the side of your body and lift to hip height as you do in the ‘hundred exercise’. This encourages the shoulder blades to draw down and keep the length in your neck.

2. The Hundred: This exercise targets the core and improves breath control. Lie on your back with knees in tabletop position, lift your head, neck, and chest off the mat, and pump your arms while inhaling and exhaling (keep at hip height)

3. Single Leg Stretch: This exercise strengthens the core and improves coordination. Lie on your back with knees in tabletop, and alternate extending one leg while keeping the other bent, while keeping your upper body lifted.
